Our 2011 Impact Report focuses not only on our continually improving sustainability performance, but also on how our work has an impact on the sectors where we work. Across Mining, Oil & Gas, Food & Agriculture, Municipalities, Water and Aboriginal Relations, Stratos’ work is making a difference.
Our 2009 Sustainability Report
In 2009, Stratos released its first sustainability report. This report presents an account of our approach to meeting our vision and our 2008 sustainability performance. We hope this report enables you, our employees, clients, partners and stakeholders to better understand our performance and to more effectively hold us to account for performance improvements.
Stratos has cultivated such a strong pool of talent by harnessing its reputation for being a great place to work. We place a premium on fostering a sense of respect in the workplace, and encourage a healthy work/life balance. All employees benefit from flexible work schedules and profit sharing, and our internship program is second to none for up and coming sustainability practitioners. We have built a strong team atmosphere through community contribution days where we support local events like the Commuter Challenge, Spring Cleaning the Capital, Shoreline Cleanup, Lunch Money Day for the Ottawa Food Bank, as well as an annual charity baseball tournament.
At Stratos, we contribute to vitality and viability of the communities in which we live and work. Through our Community Investment Program, we make direct financial contributions to our community partners. Stratos is proud to be an Imagine Company, supporting community projects at places like the Ottawa Food Bank, Ottawa Mission, and the Ottawa Riverkeeper Association by donating 1% of pre-tax profits to non-profit organizations and allowing employees to take volunteer days.

Our commitment to sustainability starts in our own offices. Stratos is a carbon-neutral company, certified by Offsetters. We monitor the greenhouse gas emissions associated with our office operations and employee/business travel, and purchase equivalent tonnes of CO2 offsets. We also adhere to a strict procurement policy and purchasing process to ensure we reduce the environmental and social footprint of the goods and services we consume. All the paper we use at Stratos is derived from 100% post-consumer recycled fibre, and we purchase fair-trade, organic beverage supplies.
